Union Education Minister welcomes international delegates as India showcases research-driven innovations at the BRICS Bharat Innovates Exposition.
Pralhad Joshi, Union Education Minister, has highlighted the expanding role of research, technology, and deep-tech innovation in India’s development while interacting with innovators and international delegates at the BRICS Bharat Innovates Exposition in New Delhi. The two-day event, being held at Bharat Mandapam alongside the 18th BRICS Summit, brings together Indian deep-tech startups, higher education institutions and research organizations.
The exposition is intended to connect India’s research and innovation ecosystem with global investors, companies, universities, and other institutions.
37 Indian innovations on display.
The BRICS Bharat Innovates Exposition showcases 37 deep-tech innovations spanning sectors such as healthcare, renewable energy, robotics, and advanced mobility. Among the technologies on display are an artificial intelligence-based cervical cancer screening system, floating solar photovoltaic solutions, marine robotics, rare-earth-free electric powertrains and AI-based maternal-fetal monitoring.
The range of projects reflects the increasing diversity of India’s research ecosystem, with technology development extending beyond conventional information technology into healthcare, clean energy and industrial applications.
Focus on global research collaboration.
The exposition is designed not merely as a technology showcase but as a platform for developing international connections around Indian research and innovation.
The programme brings startups, higher education institutions, laboratories and research parks into discussions with corporates, investors, incubators, universities, governments and research organizations from other countries. Such engagement could provide Indian researchers and startups with access to international expertise, investment opportunities and potential technology partnerships. The initiative also aligns with one of India’s BRICS education priorities: strengthening research, innovation and startup ecosystems.
The New Delhi exposition follows the first Bharat Innovates edition held in Nice, France, in June 2026. That programme featured Indian deep-tech startups on an international platform and aimed to build connections between Indian innovators and global stakeholders.
For India’s research ecosystem, the focus is increasingly shifting from developing ideas within academic institutions to creating stronger pathways for collaboration, commercialization and global deployment. The BRICS exposition provides another platform for that transition, while placing Indian innovation within a wider multilateral framework.
