Technology company TECNO received two IFA Global Product Technology Innovation Gold Awards at IFA 2026 in Berlin, recognizing its Modular Phone and Tonino Lamborghini TECNO TAURUS. The awards place the two products among the consumer technology innovations highlighted at this year’s event.
The TECNO Modular Phone won the Ultra-Slim Magnetic Modular Technology Innovation Gold Award, while the Tonino Lamborghini TECNO TAURUS, also identified as the MEGA MINI G1 Pro, received the Miniaturized Gaming PC Technology Innovation Gold Award.
Modular Smartphone takes a different approach.
The Modular Phone is notable for its 4.9mm-thick design and a hardware architecture built around magnetic connections. TECNO says the system combines a precision magnetic array with pogo-pin connectors, allowing users to attach additional modules to the handset. The concept addresses a practical challenge facing smartphone manufacturers: fitting increasingly capable hardware into thinner devices while retaining room for additional functions.
The phone is built around the idea that users can expand its capabilities through detachable hardware rather than relying solely on the components built into the handset. Modular technology has appeared in smartphones before, but the challenge has consistently been balancing durability, thickness, connectivity and convenience. TECNO’s latest design reflects the industry’s continuing interest in alternative smartphone architectures, particularly as AI hardware demands more computing resources.
Compact gaming PC combines size and performance.
The second award went to the Tonino Lamborghini TECNO TAURUS, a compact gaming PC developed with Italian design elements. The system has a chassis of around 6.36 litres and uses water cooling alongside an Intel Core i9-13900HK processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 graphics. According to TECNO, the machine also includes 15 ports and Wi-Fi 6E connectivity.
The product sits at the intersection of gaming hardware, compact computing and AI-enabled performance, reflecting a broader industry effort to deliver greater processing capability without moving towards increasingly large desktop systems. TECNO’s awards come during an IFA edition that has placed considerable attention on emerging consumer technology. IFA 2026 received more than 530 entries for its separate Innovation Awards, with products evaluated across areas including computing, gaming, connectivity, sustainability and future technologies.
