Caudalie makes first acquisition, takes majority stake in Talm

French skincare group expands beyond its flagship brand with investment in the pregnancy and sensitive-skin specialist.

Caudalie has made its first acquisition since the group was founded, taking a majority stake in French skincare brand Talm. The deal marks a shift in the French beauty company’s growth strategy, which has so far centred largely on developing and expanding the Caudalie brand.

Caudalie Group, led by co-founders Mathilde and Bertrand Thomas, had previously invested in Talm during the brand’s 2023 fundraising round. The latest transaction gives Caudalie a majority holding in the company, although the financial details haven’t been disclosed.

Talm expands beyond maternity skincare.

Founded in 2021 by Kenza Keller, Talm initially developed skincare products specifically for pregnancy and the postpartum period. Its portfolio has since expanded to include products designed for sensitive skin across different life stages.

The brand currently has around a dozen products and is present in approximately 12 countries. It has also reported double-digit revenue growth, making it an increasingly established player within the sensitive skincare segment.  The acquisition therefore brings Caudalie into closer contact with a category that extends beyond its traditional skincare positioning.

Talm to retain operational independence.

Despite joining the Caudalie Group, Talm is expected to maintain its own operational and creative identity. Founder Kenza Keller will remain as CEO and continue to oversee the company’s strategy, product development, marketing and creative direction.  Talm’s team has moved to Caudalie’s Paris headquarters, but the brand will continue to operate with a degree of autonomy.

Caudalie plans to support Talm’s next stage of development through its existing international infrastructure, including its pharmacy network, sales organisation and global presence. For Talm, this could provide access to markets and distribution capabilities that would otherwise take considerably longer to build independently. For Caudalie, the transaction offers an opportunity to diversify while remaining within the skincare sector.

The deal also reflects the growing importance of specialised skincare categories, particularly products addressing sensitive skin and specific life stages. For Caudalie, Talm becomes the first addition to what could eventually develop into a wider multi-brand beauty portfolio.
