Founded by engineer Varun Khanna in 2023, the company built its identity around fasting-mimicking science and metabolic health rather than the weight-loss promises that dominate most Indian nutrition brands
Most nutrition companies in India have the same tired pitch: lose weight fast, look good quicker. Varun Khanna just wasn’t interested in that. He wanted to ask something else: What if the real goal was simply living longer, healthier lives—not dropping a few kilos? That question turned into Outlive, a Bengaluru startup he created with Nidhi Khanna in 2023. They didn’t want to be just another diet brand. Outlive calls itself India’s first longevity-focused nutrition company centered on nutrition, fasting, and real disease prevention—not just aesthetics.
The Science at the Centre
Outlive’s main offering is a 5-Day Fasting Programme. Instead of making people starve, the plan gives them specially designed meals that make the body act like it’s fasting—so people still get the health perks, like improved cellular health, better metabolism, and lower disease risk, backed by research on autophagy and metabolic markers. Over time, Outlive added more products: a 1-Day Fasting Programme, Zero Spike Nutrition Bars, Nut and Seed Bars, Soup Mixes, and Saltwater Electrolyte Drinks. Everything follows one simple idea—evidence-based preventive nutrition.
The Shark Tank Moment
And then came their Shark Tank India moment. Outlive landed a spot on Season 5. Varun came in seeking Rs 1 crore for a 4% stake (a Rs 25 crore valuation). There was genuine interest, especially since this kind of product is a first for India, but they faced tough questions—mainly from Anupam Mittal, who really drilled into their pricing and value proposition. Varun stood by their research and the need for evidence-based nutrition, but no one ended up investing.
What the Appearance Actually Achieved
Even though Outlive didn’t get an investment, what they gained was worth a lot more than a check. Their pitch reached millions of people in India and got them thinking about fasting-mimicking nutrition and longevity-focused preventive healthcare—two topics almost no one talked about before that episode. People got curious, conversations started popping up in the healthcare space, and the wellness community took notice. Outlive kept adding to their product line and expanding their platform in 2026. The national exposure, pushed by their clear scientific mission, really moved the needle for the brand. Sometimes, just getting seen by the right audience does more than cash ever could.
